Become a map maker in minutes! Make stunning, never-before-seen color contour maps for fishing or beautiful high definition wall maps for the home. Use the maps for fun or profit. Use UnderSee Explorer to enhance your fishing edge, or use it as a data collection and processing tool with professional survey grade equipment.
UnderSee Explorer is innovative but easy to use software that brings you, your computer and your GPS/Sounder together in a unique way. Did you know most GPS devices have a PC connection? Look in your manual for it’s “NMEA” output capability.

UnderSee Exploer is a Windows application than runs on almost any Windows computer.

Real Time Mode: You connect your computer to a GPS/Sounder device using an inexpensive serial cable (approximately $10). Getting connected is the most complicated part of the process, but DON’T WORRY! We will help you or you can ask your local marine electronics dealer to help. Most newer computers don’t have the serial port anymore, so you need a USB to Serial adapter. These are about $25 to $35 for a quality adapter. Almost every GPS/Sounder combo supports this connection. You can also use separate devices such as a stand alone GPS (even many handhelds) and a stand alone sounder. Note that not all sounders support the required serial interface. You can search your unit’s manual for NMEA 0183 support. More about that later in this document. See the Wiring section.

Import Mode: You don’t have to use UnderExplorer out on the water (connected to a GPS) to get the benefits of detailed mapping. With the Professional Edition, you can import sonar logs saved to an SD card as well as other file formats. You can even mix modes. For exmple, you can import a large set of points for “Favorite Bay”, then go out and cruise around or fish “Favorite Bay”, recording more data while the map becomes more detailed with each pass.

In summary, UnderSee Explorer collects position and depth information and plots contour maps from that data. You also begin navigating that map almost immediately.

You can map a lake, bay or river in stunning detail. You can then use the map again for fishing, or you can print it for your web site. You can also start your own mapping business. Surveyors, researchers, engineers, shipping companies can use the map or export the data into different coordinate systems for use in other applications. You can click a couple of buttons and view your map in Google Earth. You can map your ice fishing lake and export it to GPS devices that support KMZ files such as some Garmin handhelds. Now you have a real time navigation system in your hands while walking on the ice!! People will pay you to make a map of their lake!! With the Publisher Edition, you can make high definition, high resolution large format wall maps.
